Heating Case Study
Glass Ceramic Cook Top:
Datec worked with a major appliance manufacturer to incorporate Datec technology into their glass ceramic cook tops. Datec was able to design, prototype and test a drop in solution that replaces the current wire element. The advantages offered by the Datec heating element included reduced part cost, improved heating performance and a design that is compatible with their existing wiring and mounting configurations.

Commercial Food warming Tray:
Datec was presented with the challenge of improving the thermal uniformity in a commercial food warming tray. The existing metal rope element was delivering poor uniformity resulting in unacceptable hot spots. Further adding to the troubles was the warping of the metal warming surface resulting from the varying degree of thermal expansion. Datec’s solution was to design a custom heating circuit printed on a mica panel that could replace the existing metal rope element. This solution greatly improved the thermal uniformity on the warming surface and helped to eliminate the warping problem.
